Pigeon Racing- Fast time from Rennes
It was back to France for the members of SALTASH club last weekend, once again Rennes was the venue. The birds were released at 06:40 in a south-westerly wind, with the leading birds recording fast times with some members caught napping.
Recording their second victory of the season, Messrs R Mugridge, S Woolley and their two year-old hen bird covering the 195 mile journey in 3:32:09, recording an average velocity of 1618.171 yards per minute, just over 55 mph. Six members sent 51 birds to the race and despite coming through very heavy showers, returns were very good.

PENSILVA PFC raced from Rennes again this weekend the 12 members 54 birds were released at 6.40 am into a moderate south west wind. Despite the heavy showers for the second week running the pigeons did faster than expected velocities.
Taking 1st place was Arthur Lean of Minions with a flying time of 4.08.27 to giv4 a velocity of 1462.342.
Brian Ford of Liskeard took second place with a velocity of 1424.265 and a flying time of 4.11.29.
Third place went to Kevin and Anne Hicks of Henwood on 1393.69 and a flying time of 4.19.50.
B rian Ford won 1st 5p and 10p pools and the single nom. K J and A Hicks 2nd 5p and 10p pools and 1st 20p nom, A and P Skews won the two-bird nom and 2nd 20p nom. D W Renfree won 3rd 20p noms. Next week's race is from Fareham.
