A keen quilter who spent 24 hours sewing patches needed to tuck herself up for a rest afterwards – but she has helped to raise around £1800 for Cancer Research UK.

Della Lavers was one of the many participants in Relay for Life in Liskeard over the Bank Holiday weekend.

But instead of walking laps, Della was creating patches to be sewn onto a ’Quilt of Hope’.

With the donations given for each patch, Della raised £165 over the weekend to add to the total of her team, Creative Academy Cornwall.

Meanwhile, during the lockdown Della designed and made a rainbow quilt to hang in her window.

Now patterns for the quilt will also go on sale more widely for charity.

’A close friend of mine contacted her friend Natasha McCarty, who works for several well known shopping channels, but has her own online show and shop,’ she said.

’I was asked to create a pattern of the rainbow quilt which Natasha will feature on her show and this will go on sale for £5.99. For every pattern sold £5 will be donated to our Relay for Life Cancer Research UK.’
