Penn Cornwall Tennis League- Mixed fortunes for Liskeard

In the Men's Premier Division, Truro A gained their second win of the season in comfortable fashion against St Austell A who went on to suffer a further heavy defeat against Bude A whose Gary Bickle/Mike Keat pairing were unbeaten. Redruth A showed their best form of the season to date with a good 8-2 victory over Liskeard A. Ryan Fern/Jason Buckley were particularly dominant for Redruth.

St Austell B at last got under way in Div 2 East but went down in their first two matches, very heavily at Liskeard B but very closely in a rain-affected match away to current leaders, Wadebridge B. Liskeard B experienced a much closer struggle against a stronger looking Launceston team whose G. Worth/P. Stanbury gained an excellent pair of wins without dropping a set.

In the Ladies Premier Division, Penzance A had to struggle to gain their victory by a difference of just six games against St Austell A whose young pairing of Helen Foster and Vicki Eames achieved excellent straight set wins over each of the Penzance pairs.

Truro C suffered mixed fortunes in two closely contested matches in Div 1 East, going down 4-8 to St Austell C in a match in which no pairing was unbeaten, but then gaining a close 7- 4 margin over Wadebridge A in a match that was severely affected by bad weather.

The last unbeaten record in Division 2 East was lost by Wadebridge B who went down 3-8 in a rain-affected match against St Austell D who also took over the Divisional leadership from their hosts.

Div 2 East: Liskeard B 10, St Austell B 1; Launceston 4, Liskeard B 6; Wadebridge B 6, St Austell B 4.

Ladies Premier: Penzance A 6, St Austell A 4; Truro B 0, Truro A 10.

Div 1 East: St Austell C 8, Truyro C 4; Wadebridge A 4, Truro C 7.

Div 2 East: Wadebridge B 3, St Austell D 8.
