DOCTORS Kevin Mattholie and his wife Mary Stewart, who have practiced in Torpoint for the last 23 years, retired on Thursday. They were showered with cards and gifts from patients and on Friday evening staff and colleagues held a farewell reception for them. 'We have been lucky to work with really good staff, both in the practice and community, which all adds up to good team work and provides better experiences for the patient,' Kevin said. 'We go with a feeling of sadness, leaving behind very nice patients who have been more than generous with their cards and gifts.' Mary added: 'We have been overwhelmed by the goodbyes and are so sad to go.' Their practice at St James Road Surgery has now joined with Antony Road Surgery to form the Rame Group Practice. The couple, who live in Millbrook, are taking up cycling and one of their first ventures will be a cycling tour through France. They intend to continue living in Millbrook, an area they love and the place where their three grown-up children were brought up and regularly return to.
