Elections to the European Parliament are due to take place across Britain on May 22, with only two candidates from Cornwall standing to represent the South West. A total of eight parties are each fielding six candidates in the elections, hoping to become one of the region's six MEPs. Just one person from Gibraltar, which is included in the South West constituency, is standing. Of the South West's current MEPs, four have put their names forward to fight the 2014 election – Lib Dem Sir Graham Watson, UKIP member William Dartmouth and Conservatives Ashley Fox and Julie Girling.
