Drivers in Liskeard could have to pay £1 to park in Westbourne and the Cattle Market car parks after 4pm, as reported in the current print edition of the Cornish Times
Cornwall Council has proposed the new charges, which run up to 11.30pm, in a consultation document sent to the town council. They also proposed a rise in the hourly and two-hourly rate. However, there are reductions proposed for longer stays.
A number of people have expressed concern at the planned increase saying many people wait until 4pm to come into town to avoid the charges.
Protesters say it would also affect those using the Liskerret Centre, Public Hall and other venues for events and meetings and those who live in the town and use the car park for overnight parking.
