FREE parking is to be provided for traders at Liskeard's first open-air market on Saturday, August 15, organised by the town council.
Cllr Katrina Dawe said: 'We want to encourage market traders to come to Liskeard and free parking will be an important incentive.'
The market is for country produce and local crafts, and will run alongside a pannier market in the Public Hall. All stalls, which are free as a one-off offer, are for trade only, with no charity stands.
The market, centred on The Parade, is the forerunner to new regular markets which start next month. It is being organised especially to support Liskeard's traders who will be running one of their entertainment days at the same time. The regular markets begin on Saturday, September 22, and will run on the second and fourth week of each month, with an extra market at the Lions' St Matthew's Fair on September 29.
