A SUPERB performance from James Noel-Johnson helped Liskeard-Looe to a comfortable 48-5 win over struggling Torrington in the Tribute Cornwall and Devon Rugby League.

The Lions full-back contributed more than half of his side's points, scoring a hat-trick of tries and a series of successful kicks.

For the opening half-an-hour there was little to separate the sides, with only a Noel-Johnson penalty – the first three points of his personal tally of 28 – the difference. However, two quick tries before the break put the hosts in charge.

Prop Mike Mander got the first try of the afternoon, before fly-half Andy Sheer extended the advantage with another score.

Torrington hit back before the interval with a fine try from winger Ed Siviter.

In the second period it soon became the Noel-Johnson show as the full-back ran in his first try of the game from near enough the halfway line.

He was over again minutes later as his side approached 30 points.

Tries from Baz Hocking, a fine 30-metre finish down the touchline, and No.8 Lewis Elliott, touching down at the back of a five-yard scrum, put the result beyond doubt, before Noel-Johnson completed his hat-trick with the last play of the game.
