The newest member of the Looe Harbour Commissioners team brings a wealth of experience both on and off the water to the role.

Assistant harbourmaster Mark Veale is a former Royal Navy commando who joined the service in 1986.

After 27 years of active service, including deployments to the Falklands, the Middle East and Afghanistan, Mark retired from the Navy, and the post of assistant harbourmaster for Looe came up while he was looking for a new challenge.

Mark, who lives in Plymouth with his wife Laura, is a keen sportsman who enjoys ju-jitsu, shooting, motorcycles, running and cross-fit, as well as being a keen and qualified yachtsman.

Mark and Laura are avid skiers, and between them they run a not-for-profit group catering for disabled skiers.
