August was a record-breaking month for visitors to the Liskeard and District Museum.

More than 1,000 people visited the museum last month, said volunteer Brian Oldham, who says he had to turn people away from his most recent talk because there simply wasn’t enough room for everyone.

Brian puts the increase in numbers down to the museum’s higher profile on social media, and to an interest in local history being sparked by stories and photographs in the local press.

The Liskeard and District Museum opened in its present location in Foresters Hall, Pike Street, in 2002.
