THE organisers of the annual Morval Vintage Steam Rally, who have set this year for August 27, 28 and 29, say it will be one of their best as it is the event’s 40th anniversary. Secretary Barbara Reynolds said they will be pulling out all the stops to bring something new and exciting for each of the three days. ‘Who would have thought that what started out to raise some funds for Morval Church would have grown into the great event it is today – considered by many to be one of the best steam rallies in Cornwall,’ she said. However, on a more poignant note, Mrs Reynolds said the 40th rally will also be the last one to take place at Bray Farm, No Man’s Land. ‘No decision has yet been made about a new site but we have some offers on the table,’ she said. ‘We would still like to hear from anyone with land who can offer the rally a new home.’ Over the years the rally has raised thousands of pounds for local charities and this year it will be in aid of Cornwall Air Ambulance and Little Bridge House (CHSW) – and FLEET (Front Line Emergency Equipment Trust) for which the rally is one of the biggest fundraisers.
