More than 170 people attended a Supporters’ Day at the Monkey Sanctuary, near Looe. The annual event is a great morale boost to the Wild Futures team of staff, said director Rachel Hevesi, as well as the chance for those who sponsor animals to hear about their progress. Guests heard about the success of Wild Futures’ overseas projects in Morocco, South Africa and Peru. Ms Hevesi also spoke of the current fundraising to build new enclosures for marmosets. ‘We need to raise £60,000 for the marmoset appeal. It is heart-breaking to turn monkeys away because we do not have space for them,’ she said. ‘The Supporters Day is our chance to meet and thank the people who make our vital welfare and conservation work possible – and spurs us on to achieve more.’
