Young gypsies and travellers in Cornwall have had the opportunity to find out more about their history thanks to a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund.

With the help of charity TravellerSpace, the young people have been interviewing the older generations of their community to discover how they lived when they were younger.

TravellerSpace helps gypsies and travellers in Cornwall to access the services and opportunities available to the wider community.

The young gypsies and travellers have recorded the interviews so they can share their knowledge of the gypsy culture.

The interviews cover topics such as trotting races, cooking on the open fire, the importance of religion and the challenges of facing prejudice.

The first instalment of recordings have been donated to the Cornwall Record Office in Truro, with more recordings to follow later in the year.
