Meet the new street marshals for Liskeard – Steve Brannan (left) and Daniel Kenyon, pictured here with their area supervisor Louise Williamson.

Steve and Daniel had their first night in Liskeard last night and will be here on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, helping to keep everyone safe and happy as they’re out in town.

The marshals spent last night introducing themselves to landlords, takeaway owners and members of the public in the town centre and say that aside from an intoxicated young lady kicking a cash machine, everyone was friendly and well behaved and adhering to the rules.

“Some of the landlords were saying that just our presence here is nice to see, knowing that we are here to help if needed,” said Steve.

“It could be calling someone a taxi or helping them cross the road if they are intoxicated, something as simple as that, or diffusing a situation by having a chat.

“We’re here to help and advise.”

Kestrel Guards have been employed for an initial three months in a project joint funded by Liskeard Town Council and the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner.
