President of the Looe Lions Club Andy French was joined by long-serving member Geoffrey Maddever and Hannafore Point Hotel manager Jonathan Prinn in unveiling a plaque to celebrate the Lions club’s 50th charter year.

The Hannafore Point Hotel was the location of the signing of the original charter document and has continued to play an important supporting role to the Lions in the town.

Club meetings are held there on every second and fourth Wednesday of the month.

The Lions Club of Looe was the first to be founded in Cornwall, said Mr Maddever, adding: ‘It is fantastic the club has been formed for so long. I wish to thank Edward Bence, the owner of the hotel, and Jonathan for their support over the years.’
