During the early hours of Saturday, February 5, I was experiencing increasing chest pain so my husband rang Kernowdoc. I was led along a path of help that I can not fault - the on-call doctor followed by our local First Responder (set up in our village with trained volunteers) and then the ambulance paramedics who transported me to the Acute Medical Unit in Derriford Hospital. There I was assessed and cared for by doctors and nursing staff and helpers for four days - together with other patients needing urgent attention. All of us were treated with consideration, commitment and compassion. The team was totally dedicated and there for everyone and I feel full of praise for them all. I have recovered well, thanking God for life and very grateful. We hear of complaints and criticism of our health service but my husband and I experienced efficiency and sensitivity which we deeply appreciated.
