The National Lobster Hatchery’s ’Releasing Larry’ crowdfunding campaign is due to end on October 16.
Over £5,000 has already been donated with an additional £5,000 expected in promised pledges. There is a chance to name your own lobster before it is released and to win a prize, including a chance to win a trip to the Isles of Scilly.
The Releasing Larry campaign is raising money to pay for the release of thousands of juvenile lobsters which have been reared as part of the NLH’s research project Lobster Grower 2.
The lobsters are ready to start their journey into the wild. The sea-based system they were reared in has provided a transition between the hatchery and the wild, producing larger, fitter, healthier lobsters with a good chance of survival following release.
