Everyone who loves their local coastline is being encouraged to join the Big Spring Beach Clean. Surfers Against Sewage (SAS) and campaign group Parley for the Oceans are calling for volunteers across the South West. With events taking place at 94 beaches in the region, the aim is to stem the rising tide of marine litter. Campaigners want to help bring on a ‘marine litter revolution,’ where plastics collected off beaches are viewed not as rubbish – but as a resource which can be used again. Big Spring Beach Cleans in South East Cornwall will be taking place at Polkerris and at Tregantle in Whitsand Bay on April 16 (both from 10am) and at Portwrinkle on April 17 from 11am. A clean up will also be taking place in Looe; visit www.sas.org.uk for details.
