Intrepid marathon runners from the local area are sought to run as part of the children's charity Barnardos' Team 2000 in the London Marathon on 16 April.

The thousands of people across the country who will hear this week if they have been successful in obtaining a marathon place, are being asked to consider running for the children's charity. In return for raising money for the charity, runners will receive a number of benefits, including: a Barnardos' running vest, an invitation to the pre-race pasta party and post-race reception and an opportunity to train with team leader Daley Thompson at exclusive pre-race training sessions. For those who did not enter the annual ballotor were unsuccessful, all is not lost, as Barnbardo's has a number of guaranteed places available for people who can guarantee to raise a certain amount of sponsorship.

For further details of running the London Marathon on behalf of Barnardos, contact the Barnardos' events hotline of 0870 240 2668 (24 hour national rate).
