Employment and training events taking place in South East Cornwall are aimed at helping people find their way into work, into training, volunteering or onto an apprenticeship.
The Cornwall Housing-organised events involve agencies coming together under one roof to make it easy for people to access help and information.
Some of those agencies taking part in the events include the Job Centre, Spring Board - offering information about working in the hospitality industry, the Volunteer Bureau and Cornwall Council’s digital services.
Cornwall Housing’s engagement manager Tania Horrocks said: ’These events are all about getting as many different agencies as possible under one roof, a one stop shop of support if you like.
’Residents can then speak to as many advisers as they would like to get help in taking the next step. We received such positive feedback from residents after the first event with six people signing up for courses with adult education on the day.’
People who do attend will be able to find out more on the SMART Tenants Money Box course that is available for tenants aged 16 to 64 who live in social or private housing and who are not currently working. The course is free to all those who take part as it has EU funding.
Anyone is welcome to come along to an event:
Looe: February 24 at East Looe Children’s Centre, 10am-12noon and at West Looe’s Millpool Centre, 2pm-4pm.
Liskeard: March 24 at St Martin’s Church Hall, 11am to 2pm.
