Proposals for 170 new homes in Looe, including up to 68 affordable homes, together with much needed employment land, have been accepted by the Government Inspector examining the new Caradon development plan. The Local Plan First Alteration was adopted by Caradon council at a special meeting, and is the final stage of a process that has been ongoing since 2003. Cllr Brian Galipeau (Cons) said, welcomed the news, saying: 'The Looe allocation of 170 new homes looked as though it could have been lost a couple of times during the process, but I was able to point to the miserably poor provision of new housing in Looe in recent years, especially affordable rented homes for local people. The facts backed me up, and we have won the argument'. Cllr Armand Toms (Cons) said 'This new allocation of land is good news for homes and jobs, though we need to make sure that it's local families that see the benefit.'
