STAFF members of a local store have been making a splash in an ice bucket challenge.

Voting had taken place in store at Liskeard Co-op during the run-up to the event, when customers were able to vote for staff members they wanted to face the iced water shower.

Sandra Mitchell and Simon Ashley won the male and female votes but as Simon was not able to be present on the day, assistant manager Ryan Spiers stepped in.

Lorraine Grogan also had icy water thrown over her as it had been her idea.

The challenge took place during a fun day organised by the store in celebration of a membership scheme which has been running for a year.

The nationwide Co-op scheme contributes 1 per cent from purchases of Co-op products and the carrier bag charge to local charities and this year the Liskeard beneficiaries have been the Liskeard and Looe Food Bank, the Liskerrett Nursery and Preschool, and Creative Relaxation for Children and Young People organisation.

Around £270 was raised on the day which will be donated to the Chatterbox Playgroup.
