A superstore due to open next month has had 2,000 applicants for just 220 jobs. The number of hopefuls applying for positions at the new Tesco store in Callington is more than double the amount the supermarket giant would normally expect. Nine people have applied for every vacancy when the usual figure for a new store opening is four applications per vacancy.
