The recession is having a dramatic effect for a couple whose home is now full of rescued animals. Checkie Taylor and Pete Ferris live in Torpoint and both work within animal welfare – Checkie as an animal welfare officer for Cornwall Council and Pete for the RSPCA.
The couple, who are also volunteers for the Labrador Rescue charity, regularly take in animals they come across as part of their job.
To see how many animals the couple are currently looking after see this week's Cornish Times.
