Liskeard-Looe 22

LISKEARD-LOOE eased to the top of the Cornwall One table with a whitewash of Roseland in miserable conditions.

The pre-season promotion favourites got off to a flying start at Philleigh and a cricket score looked on the cards, but they eventually had to settle for a 22-point haul.

They scored two tries in the opening five minutes, with winger Jamie Johnson and hooker and captain Tristan Nicholas getting over the line. However, they had to wait until 20 minutes into the second period for their third, which was provided by back-row forward Lewis Elliott.

Head coach Chris Hocking said: 'The first two tries were scored within five minutes of kick-off and we were a bit disappointed we

didn't carry on scoring at that rate.

'But the weather wasn't very good and we had to wait until midway through the second half to get our third try.'

Liskeard-Looe have a crunch clash in terms of their promotion ambitions tomorrow when they entertain another of the pre-season favourites St Austell.
