Looe’s Old Sardine Factory is putting on Halloween-themed workshops for families and children over the half-term break.
These will be Covid-secure, hour-long sessions, as well as exclusive private 45-minute tours of the Heritage Centre for families and support bubbles.
Groups of up to six will be based at a workshop table, socially distanced safely from other visitors, and the activities are aimed at children aged five and over.
People can choose from various workshops running on different days of the week, from making Halloween lanterns and ‘Mooncatchers’ to a family-orientated session all about Looe’s fishing industry entitled “Sardines, Boats and Bridges” – this one includes a hands-on family challenge.
Heritage Centre manager Emma Wilkinson said: “It has been a fast and furious summer learning how to operate in a Covid-secure way, designing a new website, getting a safe online booking system up and running, and developing new offerings to attract visitors to the Centre.
“We have now also trialled two days of safe open-access tickets which went well and these should be replicated in the Spring.”
The two-week programme of half-term activities and tours started this week and will be continuing until Halloween day itself, Saturday, October 31.
The Heritage Centre will then close for the winter and reopen at the end of March 2021.The half-term activities can be booked via the website at https://www.oldsardinefactoryheritagecentre.org/october-half-term
