Women in Cornwall are being urged to take up their invitations for cervical cancer screening.

The NHS has released figures which show that the percentage of women attending screening has dropped in the county. The percentage of women attending between April 2014 and March 2015 was 76.23 per cent, however, this figure fell to 75.75 per cent between April 2015 and March this year.

Nigel Acheson, from the NHS , said: ‘It is really important for women of all ages to understand the importance of attending cervical screening as it can detect pre-cancer abnormalities which, if left untreated, may develop into cancer.’
