Dementia Voice PL12, an organisation formed in Saltash 18 months ago, has received an award from the Alzheimer’s Society.

The group has been presented with a National Certificate as one of the two runners-up in the awards for Dementia Friendly Community of the Year.

Two of the PL12 volunteers, Ken and Carol Emmett, travelled to London to receive the award. Ken has been suffering from dementia for the past six years but it hasn’t prevented him from volunteering to help others with the condition.

The popular group welcomes people with dementia every Tuesday in The Market Shop at 4 Fore Street, Saltash, from 10am-1pm.

Visitors are welcome, or anybody wanting information about the group can call 01752 848348.
