Looe fishermen are invited to seek help at a free physiotherapy clinic in the harbour next week.
SeaFit physiotherapist, Jennifer Cardew will be running a drop-in clinic on Friday, May 24 from 9am to 12 noon at the Looe Harbour Office. She can provide advice to any fisherman working out of the port, and arrange a full assessment and follow-up treatment where appropriate, at a time that’s convenient for them.
Jennifer runs Cardew Physiotherapy & Performance based in nearby Seaton. She is one of ten physiotherapists working with SeaFit to provide free treatment to local fishermen through a network of clinics across Devon and Cornwall. With support from Harbourside Physiotherapy in Newlyn, they offer bespoke treatment for fishermen based on an in-depth understanding of the nature of the job and the impact it can have on the body.
SeaFit (a health and wellbeing programme run in partnership with the Seafarers Hospital Society (SHS) and the Fishermen’s Mission with funding from Seafarers UK) is funding the development of the network and SHS is paying for the treatment.
