A Cornish project offering help and support to families who need a little space say parents and children from East Cornwall are under-represented.
The need for children and parents in families with a member with disability is behind Action for Children’s Cornwall SPACE project.
Laura-Beth Roberts, service coordinator at Cornwall SPACE, said: ‘We offer an opportunity for disabled children and young people to have fun, gain independence, learn and develop while families get to take a much-needed break from their 24-hour caring.
’Our specially trained and dedicated staff provide tailored activities throughout Cornwall with our team especially keen to reach out to families in the east of the county.
‘Parents can self-refer and we’ve ensured the process is quick and easy. We have been providing short breaks to Cornish families for nearly 30 years and we’re proud to be able to support disabled children and young people with our community-based services.’
