Campaigners against cutbacks and what they see as growing privatisation in the NHS are gathering for what organisers vow will be a ‘major rally’ in Cornwall this weekend.
The group Keep our NHS Public Cornwall (KONP) is staging a demonstration in in Truro on Saturday (March 4).
The demonstration will move from Lemon Quay at 2pm to High Cross, in front of the Cathedral, for 2.35pm where there will be a number of speeches.
Stuart Roden of KONP Cornwall said: ‘There is massive concern about the future of Cornwall’s NHS.
‘The current proposals mean savings of £264m, closures and privatisation. We are determined to fight this and also raise the public profile of this crucial issue.
‘We are encouraging as many people as possible from every part of Cornwall to attend this rally and get to the true facts about what is going on in Cornwall.’
