Cornish Times readers have the chance to meet Webster the Cornish Times bear at the annual Liskeard Lights Up event in the town centre tomorrow (Saturday, November 28).
The paper has been running a competition to name the bear with the winning name being suggested by five-year-old Holly Maddox, from Saltash, who came up with Webster with the help of her grandma Joan Wadge.
Staff were taken with the name Webster because the bear is based at Webb’s House, which is the headquarters of the Cornish Times.
The Cornish Times building on the Parade will be open from 4.30pm on ‘Lights Up’ night, prior to the grand lantern procession at 5.30pm.
Members of the paper’s staff will be on hand to welcome readers into the large reception area where they can meet Webster and take some selfies with him – which should prove popular with children.
At the same time there will be an opportunity to purchase the paper’s special Cornish Countryside and Cornish Wildlife charity calendars for a minimum donation of £2. All proceeds will go to the Cornwall Air Ambulance Trust.
