LOOE’S Old Sardine Factory is putting on two weeks of Halloween-themed workshops for families and children over the half term break.
The Covid-secure hour-long sessions, as well as exclusive private 45-minute tours of the Heritage Centre for families and support bubbles, can be booked via the website at https://www.oldsardinefactoryheritagecentre.org/october-half-term
Groups of up to six will be based at a workshop table, socially distanced safely from other visitors, and the activities are aimed at children aged fiev and over. People can choose from various workshops running on different days of the week, from making Halloween lanterns and ‘Mooncatchers’ to a family-orientated session all about Looe’s fishing industry entitled “Sardines, Boats and Bridges” - this one includes a hands-on family challenge.
Heritage Centre manager Emma Wilkinson said: “It has been a fast and furious summer learning how to operate in a Covid-secure way, designing a new website, getting a safe online booking system up and running, and developing new offerings to attract visitors to the Centre.”
“We have now also trialled two days of safe open-access tickets which went well and these should be replicated in the Spring.”
The two-week programme of half term activities and tours starts today (Monday October 31) and continues until October 31.
The Heritage Centre at the Old Sardine Factory will then close for the winter and will reopen at the end of March 2021.
