The Cornish Times has given the Kosovo Quilt appeal a lot of publicity over the last few months and we are grateful for it. The appeal has been very successful in that we have sent nearly 900 quilts, bags of teddy bears and some toiletries to Kosovo and they will arrive there for Christmas. This letter is a thank you to all those women in the Cornish Times readers' area who have been generous with their time and skills to make this possible.
Lanes of Truro Removals took the goods to Reading free and delivered them to the charity Children's Aid Direct who are transporting them to known sites in Kosovo. We have thanked all the organisations and individuals known to us but there are many more who need to be thanked. We were impressed with the generosity of women all over Cornwall and now know that these people are constantly working to make and send things to emergency areas all over the world. Not enough publicity is awarded to these ladies many of whom are elderly and confined to their own homes but with the feeling that they can still give to the outside communities who need help.
