MORE than £1000 was raised for charity as a couple marked their Golden wedding anniversary.

Diane and Graham Rice first met at Torpoint’s Congregational Church, and were married in the same church in 1968.

The couple opened Dasher’s Bakery in the town in 1995, a business which is now owned and run by their son Richard.

Diane and Graham also have a daughter, Elise, and three grandchildren, Jade ,Joe and Linnea.

The Rices were joined at Torpoint Football Club by family and friends for their evening of celebrations. An auction and raffle during the event raised £1003 for the Chestnut Appeal for prostate cancer.

‘Dad suffered from prostate cancer himself recently,’ said Richard.

‘All their friends and family were very generous with donations on the night, and mum and dad are very grateful to everyone who supported it.’
