LISKEARD Museum is offering people of all ages the chance to have their personal treasures and finds valued. On Saturday, April 30, experts will be on hand to help people identify and discuss people's prized items during the museum's 'Fabulous Finds Day'. Fabulous Finds Day is organised by the Museums, Libraries and Archives Council (MLA) as part of Museums and Galleries Month, which runs throughout May. The doors will open at Liskeard at 10.30am, and museum curators and experts from the Portable Antiques Scheme will be on hand until 3.30pm to identify and provide information about items. Visitors to the museum on the day will also be able to take part in other activities, including attending the 'Wild Warriors' costume event held at nearby Stuart House, where people will be able to try on Greek, Roman and Saxon armour and weapons. Images from the Fabulous Finds Day will be posted onto the museum website at http://www.24hourmuseum.org.uk">www.24hourmuseum.org.uk while photographs will also be on public display at Liskeard and District Museum. Children under the age of 16 are invited to enter a competition to become 'Finder of the Year', where the title will be awarded to the finder with the best story rather than the one with the oldest, prettiest or most valuable object.
