A call has gone out for entrants in the New Year’s Day Dip at Cawsand to start thinking about their team costumes.

The popular annual event run by the Torpoint and Rame Lions sees participants of all ages braving the water at Cawsand Bay to raise money for good causes. Around 100 people took part in last year’s event, raising around £3,000.

Of the total, 80 per cent goes to charities nominated by ‘dippers’ and the remainder to the Lions Club for redistribution.

Participants in the dip register from 10.30am and there is a parade and judging of the best fancy dress before the dip itself at 12.30pm.
