An emotional performance telling one man’s Gallipoli story is set to be staged in Saltash.

In spring 1915, thousands of soldiers from Britain and the Commonwealth struggled ashore at Gallipoli in Turkey. It was the start of an ill-fated eight-month campaign that would claim more than 130,000 lives.

A play with music, song, sketches and readings will be performed by the Ashtorre Rock Players at the Burraton Community Centre. The Gift of Years tells a personal story of the campaign and life after the First World War.

The show, which will be staged on Saturday, October 8, at 7.30pm, has been inspired by singer-songwriter Eric Bogle.
