Charity fundraisers for the Anthony Nolan Trust swept through Liskeard as part of a marathon from John O'Groats to Lands End. The team was aiming to clean up on donations for the leukaemia charity with a sponsored trip from one end of the country to the other in a road sweeper. Councillor Kathleen Pascoe, Caradon's chairman, met fundraisers Ian Butcher, Neil Butcher and Darren Thorne as they passed by the council's headquarters on the final day of their journey. Mrs Pascoe said: 'I hope this unusual journey will inspire local people to join me in supporting a very worthwhile cause and will raise awareness of the need for more bone marrow donors.' The eight day trek raised £6,500 for the charity.
