South West League Division One South
Torpoint Athletic 2 Saltash United 8
A JULIE Hewitt five-goal blast saw Saltash home to a convincing win over their near neighbours and to the title, which will see them playing Premier Division football next season.
The first half was a reasonably close affair, with Torpoint's Kirsty Lambert firing narrowly wide, before the visitors took a 20th-minute lead when Stacey Arthur fired home after being put through by Sam Drewery.
Ten minutes later and it was
2-0, when Arthur and Coral Smith combined to give Hewitt the space to open her account.
Torpoint fought their way back into the game with a Becky Richards goal.
The second half was a different story as the Ashes took over.
An Arthur shot struck a post before Hewitt netted her second in the 54th minute by rounding the goalkeeper, with Emma Pemberton adding the next following good work by Drewery.
Saltash were now in full flow. Hewitt set up Grace O'Leary to make it 5-1, before knocking in the next two from distance.
Lambert swooped to score Torpoint's second goal, before Hewitt rounded off her excellent performance by slamming in the Ashes' final goal.
Delighted Saltash manager Steve Drewery said: 'This has been a hard season. Last September we never dreamed we could achieve what we have, but with hard work and dedication the girls have got their rewards. Now is time to celebrate before we sit down and plan for life in the Premier Division.'
