A colourful picture taken in a seaside village in South East Cornwall has been declared the first winner in Great Western Railway’s #CaptureTheWest smartphone photography competition.
The image was entered into the contest by Patrick Pierce who lives in Cornwall.
The competition, for smartphone photographs of beautiful locations in the South West of England, South Wales or London, is running across a number of weeks and is open to everyone aged over 18.
Patrick’s picture captured the beach at Cawsand on the Rame Peninsula.
Part of the twin village of Kingsand can be seen as well. To enter the competition, take a smartphone photo, then upload the image to Instagram using the #CaptureTheWest hashtag and tagging the location.
The closing date for final entries is midnight on August 21. Weekly winners are receiving first class tickets from Great Western Railway.
