Saltash Fire Cadets have been fund-raising at Tamar View Nurseries at Hatt, to raise some money towards the cost of a minibus for their visit to Ypres in Belgium next year.
The cadets, aged 11-18, will be taking part in a remembrance service at the Menin Gate, the huge memorial built after the First World War, where every evening since 1928 the Last Post has been played at 8pm by the local fire brigade.
The cadets have been working hard helping to sell and pack Christmas trees, and firefighter Mike Parker, who helps run the group, has thanked Mike Hooper, owner of the Nurseries, for giving them the opportunity to help raise funds.
There are 19 cadets in the group with some travelling from as far away as Newquay, Plymouth and Torpoint for weekly meetings.
If anyone would like to join the cadets or would like to sponsor the group they can e-mail [email protected]
