AN OSCAR award-winning picture will be shown at the launch of a new film club in Liskeard. A new film society will officially open next month by Showing Little Miss Sunshine at the Liskerrett Community Centre in Varley Lane. The idea for a film club started after the community centre received a positive response from questionnaire it distributed in January. Liskeard had tried to form a film group around three years ago but, despite more than 50 written responses of interest, the group never managed to obtain funding. However, the group is supported by the British Federation of Film Societies, a national body that promotes community cinema in places where there is no commercial alternative. The film, which has a 15 certificate, will be screened this evening starting at 7.30pm.
