INTERNET initiative actnow announced this week that it has connected more than 100 Cornish farms to broadband – beating its target two years ahead of schedule. The county is ahead of any other rural area in the UK in broadband growth and now farmers are being targetted to give them an edge for their business. One of the farmers who is already benefiting from the service is Peter Coombe from Dupath Farm, near Callington. He signed up to broadband with actnow in early 2004. 'With broadband, you can use the Internet and the telephone at the same time over the same line and that makes a big difference to me,' he said. 'Now, while I am on the Internet, business calls can still get through. That means more efficiency – I really can do two things at once!'
