Recruits joining today’s Royal Navy can earn a range of civilian qualifications with around 750 trainees leaving HMS Raleigh at Torpoint each year having completed an apprenticeship.
As the UK highlighted the importance of workplace training schemes for National Apprenticeship Week last week, Raleigh said every new recruit joining the Royal Navy is enrolled on an apprenticeship in their chosen discipline.
The Royal Navy has multiple apprenticeship programmes across many different occupational sectors delivered at the Torpoint training establishment. The training base also provides apprenticeship training to new members of the Royal Fleet Auxiliary service.
