Professional cookery students at Cornwall College Saltash have been inspired by the success of an alumni who is now studying at Plymouth University.

Former Professional cookery student Aaron Bezant, who lives in Saltash, was in the first cohort of students at Cornwall College Saltash in 2011.

Aaron spent four years at Cornwall College Saltash and said the experience was “fantastic”.

“The staff were so supportive, there is a really friendly atmosphere at the College making students feel it’s easier to ask questions and ask for help than to sit there worrying,” Aaron continued.

“I was living by myself whilst I was at college, after my Mum died when I was 17, and college was just a great place for me to be. I felt really motivated to make something of myself and now I’d like to help others believe in themselves.”

Aaron is now studying a top-up degree in hospitality, tourism and events management at Plymouth University.

Team Lead for professional cookery Chris Penk said: “Having him come back to college to share his experiences with our students is amazing.”

There is a courses and careers advice event on Saturday, March 17, 10am until 12 noon.
