A student from Duchy College at Stoke Climsland has packed her passport and is heading for a week-long work placement in Spain.
Hettie Trott, who comes from Launceston, entered a European wide competition to secure one of the eight places.
The 17-year-old had to put together a detailed presentation outlining her chosen career, the qualifications required within the UK and Europe to undertake that career path and the skills necessary.
The next step was to put together a video biography and an online CV. The best presentations were selected to be presented to a judging panel.
After successfully presenting her presentation to the judging panel, Hettie, who is studying a BTEC Extended Diploma in Business, was shortlisted for an interview. During the interview she was told she had been selected and would be travelling to Santander in Spain.
Business lecturer Julie Tucker said: ’Hettie worked hard on her application presentation along with a detailed online CV; this has been valuable for developing her own employability skills, but also helping with assignment work on the Level 3 BTEC course. Hettie is planning to go to University to study Law and this experience will provide her with additional skills and knowledge for her future.’
Hettie said: ’The whole process has been a great opportunity and I have learnt a lot. I am really excited to be going to Spain and am looking forward to meeting new people.’
