A campaign to encourage parents and carers to talk with and read to children is being launched by Cornwall Council.
Real Heroes Read Books, which launches on September 23, focusses on reading as a transformative super power that can take you anywhere and help children’s imaginations to thrive.
As part of the campaign inspirational people from around Cornwall, including actor Rory Wilton, who has appeared in Poldark, Doc Martin and the Fisherman Friends movie, along with Inspector Rick Milburn from Devon and Cornwall Police have recorded bedtime stories, which will be broadcast on the Together for Families Facebook page.
There are also pop up story telling sessions, events at libraries across Cornwall, including family fun days planned for October 5, 12 and 19 and a writing competition for older siblings.
The campaign is being supported by the Cornwall Council library service, who will also be offering parents and children the opportunity to sign up to a free library card.
