Cornwall Council has joined the growing chorus of criticism of the Government’s plan to force all schools to become academies, voting nearly unanimously today (April 26) to oppose the policy.
Critics including many local authorities, opposition parties, some Conservative MPs and councils and all teaching unions have said forced academisation may have serious implications in rural areas for small schools, and insist no academic case has been proven for the proposal.
