More than 900 people have been trained in safeguarding within the Church of England in Cornwall. In addition to each of the church’s 200 plus clergy, more than 100 readers and at least 600 other lay church officers – including those who lead a church group of any kind – have had some safeguarding training. Among these is the church’s network of pastoral visitors, whose members call on individuals who might otherwise struggle to get to church.
